Thanks to the powers of Reddit, we’ve been made aware of Dom Kubicki, his brother Tymek Kubicki, and their friend Ben Apedaile. Together, the three Canadians are planning to take part in an epic, 22,000km (13,670-mile) journey that will start in Deadhorse, Alaska on July 1 and end in Ushuaia, Argentina, passing 16 countries in the process.
Their mission is to raise money in support of Free The Children’s Adopt A Village program, whose five pillars include: Clean water and sanitation, Health, Agriculture and Food Security, Alternative Income and Livelihood. The men are trying to raise $ 22,000 (one dollar for each kilometer) for their cause.
The trio will ride 650cc dual-sport machines (DR650s and KLR650s) throughout their journey and will document their trip as often as possible. You can follow the handle @alaskentina on Facebook and Instagram to stay abreast of their progress. They won’t be followed by support vehicles of any kind, so any technical or mechanical issues will have to be solved solely with the tools they bring with them. Fortunately, the trio have engineering backgrounds and Ben and Dom both have training in the Canadian army.
