Mercedes-Benz has introduced the 2016 GLE Coupe, a crossover-coupe that follows the path blazed by the BMW X6. The segment-defying off-roader ushers in Mercedes’ new naming system.
Thoroughbred power, from the place where horses are raised.
Exclusive AMG enhancements create a new pedigree in power. From its stronger turbo boost to a dynamic exhaust system, the 3.0-liter biturbo V-6 in the GLE 450 AMG heightens power, torque and the emotions they inspire in true enthusiasts. An exclusive red engine cover insert celebrates the 362 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque awaiting within.
Pure sports coupe response, in a genuine SUV.
AMG’s motorsports know-how ensures the new “AMG Sport” name lives up to its legend. DYNAMIC SELECT lets the driver choose among five modes from sublime Comfort to the highly athletic Sport+. Each setup dials in the AIRMATIC adaptive suspension, steering, throttle, transmission, exhaust note, and even the cockpit displays to suit the situation.
The right gear for any adventure.
A new 9-speed automatic transmission collaborates with AMG performance 4MATIC® all-wheel drive to put the GLE450’s ample torque to the best use at each wheel, on any road. A 40:60 front/rear torque split, torque-vectoring Curve Dynamic Assist, and ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM team up for sharper, flatter handling and quicker response in corners.
The strength of a Mercedes SUV, the seduction of an AMG coupe.
“Driving Performance” takes an entirely new shape in the most powerful GLE Coupe. AMG Performance 4MATIC turns 577 handcrafted biturbo V-8 horsepower into unparalleled control and unrestrained joy. And from its AMG brakes, suspension, steering and 22-inch wheels to its AMG SPEEDSHIFT® transmission, it might be the most agile SUV on earth.
For those still unfamiliar with the GLE Coupe, it’s essentially a GLE with a coupe-like roofline. The GLE itself is just an updated version of the current M-Class SUV, on sale since the 2012 model year. For the U.S. market, the GLE Coupe will come in GLE350d, GLE400, GLE450 AMG Sport, GLE63 and GLE63 S flavors. They’ll offer 258 horsepower, 333 hp, 362 hp, 550 hp and 577 hp respectively.
